John WorldPeace: a brief poetry bio
Below are all the poems that I have written and published from Oct.
The poems presented in this archive have been written continuously from October 1970 to the present, resulting in a body of work spanning more than five decades and over 8,000 individual poems across numerous volumes.
My formal education is in political science, accounting, and law. My professional life has been in self-employment across insurance, accounting, tax, law, and web design. I have no formal academic training in English literature.
From the beginning, I have maintained careful custody of the work. Nearly all original manuscripts have been preserved, written in cursive as they first appeared. These handwritten originals are considered part of the work itself, documenting the moment of creation.
The process is direct. A thought or perception arises, and the poem is written immediately, usually within minutes. Editing is minimal and typically limited to clarity and legibility. The poems are then placed into a chronological record.
Over time, this has produced a continuous archive rather than a curated collection. Each poem is dated, and in more recent years time-stamped, creating a long sequence of observation and reflection across decades.
Beginning in 2019, the archive was systematically published through self-published volumes. Since 2020, new work has been released regularly, including monthly collections and larger compiled volumes.
The writing itself has never been approached as a struggle or constructed exercise. It is a process of recognition and expression. The poems are written when they arrive, and not forced when they do not.v
Most of the work avoids strict structure and rhyme. This reflects both personal preference and the nature of the process. Spacing and line arrangement are often used in place of conventional punctuation, allowing the reader to engage with the rhythm of the poem more directly.
The content reflects lived experience—observations of life, thought, and the passage of time. In that sense, the work functions in part as a record of a life expressed through poetry.
I have remained independent of literary institutions, contests, and formal publication channels, choosing instead to present the work directly.
The archive continues to grow as long as new poems appear.
